We felt, as a club, that it was important that we do something special for our community after all that everyone has been through.

We want to give back! The last year and a half has been trying to us all in so many ways. Children have suffered possibly the most by missing out on all the sports and activities that schools and outside organizations had to cancel to deal with the pandemic and the corresponding shutdowns. As we emerge from these trying times we all want our kids to be able to reengage with each other in healthy sport that is both physical *and* social. At Orca Youth Rugby we believe that the ideal sport to achieve both of those aims is RUGBY! Which is why, for the 2021-2022 Season our Goal is to make...

Youth Rugby Free of Charge for ALL Players!

We are funding our free rugby season through our Sarah Cantle Memorial Scholarship Fund. This fund was formed in 2019 in memory of Sarah Cantle, a beloved and devoted Orca family member who lost her battle with breast cancer. This Fund is used to uplift those who are in need, giving them the opportunity to play the best sport in the world - rugby!

As well offering free rugby, Orca Youth Rugby will be giving back to the community. Read Orca rugby mom and devoted volunteer, Laurie's story about her battle with cancer and how we will donate a portion of all monies received to Susan G Komen in support of Laurie's Hanna's charity walk!.

It's very simple...

Register for our 2021/22 season (when registration opens) follow our conditions and at the end of the season we will give you a full refund!

Conditions:

- Where possible, attend all scheduled practices. Obviously we don't expect you to attend if you are ill, out of town, have a school event etc
- Play in 75% of our scheduled games
- Have one family member volunteer for 30 minutes

Players will also receive a free pair of shorts and socks!

Interesting in trying rugby?

The best way to learn about rugby is to come out and join us for a practice or two and check out what we do. Feel free to ask one of our many certified coaches or other parents there, why they let their kids brave the pitch, rain or shine. Regardless of prior experience, players will learn the fundamentals of passing, catching, running, kicking, and tackling. The fundamentals of rugby are terrific supplements to other sports and to the development of a players physical abilities.

We will be offering free rugby across the following age brackets: U8 flag, U10 co-ed, U12 co-ed, U14 boys, U16/U18 boys, U15/U18 girls.

With limited funds we have had to put a limit on each age group, this currently is the first 20 registered players for each age group. As we fundraise throughout the season and raise funds then we will be able to expand this number and offer free rugby to more players.

Don't worry if you register late! This year we wont be charging club fees so all you will pay is the USA Rugby and Southern California Youth Rugby costs (these cover player insurance etc).
